HRC Fitness Charity 5K
Hillsborough, NJ: On October 1st, 2017 nothing was more exceptional than seeing our community come together in support of each other and our local charities. HRC Fitness is proud to have held our 4th annual Charity 5K in support of Gigi’s Playhouse of Hillsborough and other local organizations.
Our main beneficiary, GiGi’s Playhouse offers more than 25 therapeutic and educational programs for those with Down syndrome; these programs are designed to advance literacy, math skills, motor skills and more; all of which are free of charge. Gigi’s mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. You can read more about Gigi’s here. The money raised helped the youth group travel to Nashville, Tennessee to spend a week in service helping those in need. They spent 5 days cleaning homes, painting, doing yardwork and working with special needs populations.
This year, the St Joe’s 5k was part of an inaugural event, “I Run Hillsborough”. This featured 3 local races, 3 charities, to build and support one community: Hillsborough.
18 participants ran the 3 races that included St Joe’s 5k, Steps Together at Steeplechase, and HRC/Gigi’s Playhouse 5k. All 18 will receive an “IRunHillsborough” car magnet and one lucky winner will receive a gift basket from the charities and a one-year membership to HRC Fitness.
